Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL) has extended its agreement with Satcom Global for AuraNow maritime VSAT services for another 5 years.

Tailored to different vessel needs, AuraNow allows customers to reduce bandwidth or even suspend their service without penalty, saving money if a vessel is in port or in drydock for a long time.

Mr. Ron Fong, Head of Fleet IT for PCL, said: “As the industry goes through a significant transition to digitalization, there is a massive demand for remote services, data collection, cybersecurity strengthened and improved crew well-being. Through our accelerated digital transformation efforts, we continuously drive operational excellence and strengthen the resilience of our fleet management. We hope to continue our existing partnership with Satcom Global to provide seamless communication connectivity to optimize our navigational and operational performance.

James Tucker, President, Asia-Pacific at Satcom Global, added, “It says a lot when a forward-thinking, industry-leading shipping company like PCL renews its VSAT contract and continues to partner with us. For PCL, achieving operational excellence is at its core, and this principle is perfectly aligned with the AuraNow VSAT proposition. Satcom Global prides itself on not only meeting but exceeding customer expectations, offering revolutionary levels of contract and service flexibility. We are seeing a huge trend with the rapid adoption of AuraNow, especially in the Southeast Asian market, as flexible bandwidth that you control is becoming the “must have” service on board ships.

AuraNow offers a communications management portal for 24/7/365 control of vessel connectivity, allowing fleet managers to manage VSAT bandwidth as needs and requirements change. With on-demand bandwidth, customers can instantly upgrade or schedule future downgrades and suspensions of their service at the touch of a button.

Users pay only for the bandwidth they need in 24-hour increments with no hidden fees or penalties, or a fair usage policy limiting data usage.

The one-stop-shop also provides visibility into vessel connectivity status and performance, as well as weather and sea conditions, satellite beam overlay and vessel tracking.
