This Extraordinary Council will be held following the latest developments, in particular the decisions taken recently by Gazprom to completely suspend the delivery of gas under its contracts with certain Member States.
It aims to take stock of possible additional actions in terms of security of supply, gas transit and management of gas stocks, particularly with a view to the weeks and months to come.
It also aims to identify the measures to strengthen coordination between Member States to be implemented, and the common messages to be disseminated.
Energy Ministers will be invited to present their analysis of their specific situation in the light of the latest developments.
Ministers will also be invited to discuss the EU’s level of preparedness for a supply crisis and the EU solidarity measures and instruments they would like to promote in this context.
Ministers will also be invited to exchange their analyses, in the event of a supply disruption, on the state of preparedness, solidarity measures and possible emergency measures to strengthen the EU’s level of preparedness.
