DENVER – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Sep 8, 2021–

BridgeComm, a leader in wireless optical communications (OWC) solutions and services, today announced that it will offer its customers AstroBridge Optical Inter-Satellite Link Tracking (OISL) terminals for high data rates for data transmission and resilient performance in navigation. BridgeComm’s AstroBridge OISL will provide robust and secure transmissions using MOCA radio frequency (RF) technology and optical lasers.

“AstroBridge OISL is an important step in the maturation of inter-satellite links and the future of data transmission via satellite, as more and more companies integrate inter-satellite links,” said Barry Matsumori, CEO of BridgeComm. “In addition to increased speed and security, our AstroBridge OISL offers data throughput capabilities of several gigabits per second while being smaller and lighter than its standard inter-satellite link counterparts. These features will greatly improve functionality in space and on the ground.

BridgeComm’s AstroBridge is designed for Low Earth Orbits (LEO), with gimballess steering for better control of optical communication tracking terminals. AstroBridge’s gimbal-less piloting capabilities allow tracking in excess of 1000 ° per second, which is crucial for constellations with multiple orbital planes.

Connecting satellites in a constellation by inter-satellite optical links offers significant advantages, including shorter wavelengths, as well as better resolution and range synchronization. For more information on AstroBridge and other BridgeComm offerings, visit: www.bridgecomminc.com.
